TechWomen Leadership 2024 Program: Fully Funded

Upon arrival, Emerging Leaders dive into Silicon Valley’s dynamic culture, collaborating with Professional Mentors to craft impactful projects and exploring the San Francisco Bay Area alongside Cultural Mentors and program peers.

TechWomen Emerging Leaders will:

  • Engage in stimulating inquiries and novel concepts
  • Collaborate on innovative projects with like-minded female professionals
  • Network with influential industry figures
  • Foster their distinctive leadership style
  • Cultivate meaningful global connections
  • Experience the diverse communities of San Francisco Bay Area and Washington, D.C.
  • Empower the next generation of women in their home countries

Benefit:

The TechWomen program covers international travel, housing, meals, incidental expenses, local transportation, and transportation to official events. Attendees are accountable for covering costs linked to activities not included in the program.

Criteria for Eligibility:

  • Female applicants must possess a minimum of two years of full-time professional experience in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields. Note that internships and unpaid work experience do not fulfill the two-year professional experience criterion.
  • Hold at least a bachelor’s degree or a four-year university equivalent.
  • Written and spoken English proficiency is required.
  • Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, or Zimbabwe during the application and program participation period.
  • Eligible to acquire a U.S. J-1 exchange visitor visa.
  • Have not applied for a U.S. immigrant visa (except the Diversity Immigrant Visa, also known as the “visa lottery”) within the past five years.
  • Should not hold U.S. citizenship or be a U.S. legal permanent resident.

Preference will be given to candidates who:

  • Exhibit emerging leadership qualities in their chosen professional track through work experience, volunteer engagement, community activities, and education.
  • Commit to returning to their home countries to impart knowledge and mentor women and girls.
  • Possess limited or no prior experience in the United States.
  • Demonstrate a history of voluntary or public service within their communities.
  • Show evidence of entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to innovation.
  • Display eagerness to engage in exchange programs, embrace mentoring opportunities, initiate new partnerships, and exhibit confidence and maturity.

Selection Timeline:

The 2024 TechWomen application is presently open and will conclude on January 10, 2024, at 09:00 AM PST (GMT-08:00). Applicants will receive notification regarding their application status (non-select or semi-finalist) no later than April 30, 2024. Final decisions will be communicated by May 31, 2024. All candidates will receive notifications regarding the results of their applications.
