SEforALL Women in STEM Traineeship for Recent Graduates

Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) aims to enroll a maximum of 12 highly skilled recent female graduates for the Women in STEM Traineeship. SEforALL operates as a global entity, collaborating with governmental figures, private sector stakeholders, and civil society leaders. Together, their focus is on catalyzing swift and decisive actions aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7). This pivotal goal advocates for universal access to sustainable energy by 2030. Furthermore, SEforALL actively supports the ambitions of the Paris Agreement, emphasizing the imperative to curtail greenhouse gas emissions drastically to contain climate warming well below 2°C, with an ardent ambition for 1.5°C.


SEforALL, in partnership with EM-One Energy Solutions, is seeking 12 recent female graduates to join a specialized traineeship program in Sierra Leone. This program focuses on hands-on technical training primarily centered around solar energy as part of the FCDO-funded health electrification project. The responsibilities encompass various aspects, including, but not limited to:

  • Enhancing Energy Efficiency and Conservation Techniques.
  • Mastery of PV Systems, encompassing Standalone and Off-Grid systems.
  • Understanding and working with Integrated Systems.
  • Proficiency in Battery Sizing.
  • Mastery in Inverter and Charge Controller sizing.
  • Performing current and voltage measurements and analyzing performance characteristics.
  • Execution of solar panel installations.
  • Utilizing simulation software for designing PV system dimensions.
  • Evaluating site economic viability using measured radiation data.
  • Installation, integration, and commissioning of solar systems.
  • Undertaking remote monitoring and system maintenance.
  • Trainees are expected to actively engage in daily activities under the guidance of their designated supervisor. Additionally, they’ll partake in scheduled site visits, workshops, and supplementary training programs organized by SEforALL.

Requirements for applicants include:

  • Age between 18 and 35.
  • Exclusively open to female applicants.
  • Recent graduates holding bachelor’s or master’s degrees in STEM fields (e.g., sciences, renewable energy, engineering, or related disciplines) obtained within the past two years. Applicants still pursuing their degree programs will not be considered.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in energy, engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstration of completion of technical education or courses relevant to the program’s topics.

  • Professionalism and punctuality.
  • Readiness and capacity to acquire and implement new skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Availability for the entire duration of the training program.
  • Nationality or legal residence and the right to work in Sierra Leone.
