Applications are currently being accepted for the 2024 MTN Media Innovation Programme (MIP). The MIP is a six-week program spread over six months, tailored for media practitioners in Nigeria. It aims to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills, enabling them to navigate the evolving media landscape effectively and leverage technology to create impactful media content.
This fully funded fellowship is designed to bolster the sustainable growth of Nigeria’s dynamic media sector. It welcomes media practitioners from various domains, including print, electronic, online platforms, and social media creators. Through the program, participants will delve into Nigeria’s technology sector, exploring the intersection between media and technology, thus equipping them to adapt to changing industry dynamics. Additionally, fellows will benefit from professional resources and mentorship provided by the SMC faculty.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be media professionals.
- Possession of a valid International Passport is mandatory.
- Successful completion of a written test and any subsequent interviews is required.
- xParticipants must obtain written consent from their employers to partake in the program.
The program will enhance participants’ expertise in three key areas:
- the Telecoms industry
- Media Innovation
- Writing & Reporting. With the guidance of experts, mentorship, and a supportive community of fellow media professionals, participants will acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to make significant contributions to the industry
Program Structure
Designed to foster innovation and provide media practitioners with enhanced methodologies while ensuring industry sustainability, the program comprises the following components:
- 33 Days in Classroom: All successful applicants will attend 33 days of classroom sessions throughout the training period.
- 7 Days in South Africa: Participants will embark on a fully funded seven-day training trip to South Africa.
- 1 Day at MTN Nigeria Headquarters: Candidates will receive instruction at both the MTN Nigeria Headquarters and the MTN Group Headquarters.
- 1 Industry Visits and Tours: A one-day training session will be conducted at the Innovation Hub.
