France Excellence Europa 2024 Scholarship: Master’s Program Opportunity

Created by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the “France Excellence Europa” scholarship program enables students from 26 European Union countries to secure scholarships for Master’s level studies at French higher education institutions.

Benefits

  • Half-yearly allowance of €6,850

  • Exemption from registration fees for national diplomas in universities and public institutions supervised by the Ministry of Higher Education
  • Priority assistance in securing accommodations in CROUS university residences (rent to be covered by the scholarship recipient)
  • Enrollment in an insurance plan during the initial three months of stay in France (subject to enrollment in the general social security system) for non-European Health Insurance Card holders
  • Supplementary health insurance enrollment
  • Exemption from CVEC (Contribution de Vie Etudiante et de Campus)
  • Exclusive discounts on cultural events organized by Campus France.

The “France Excellence Europa” scholarship does not cover tuition fees or transportation expenses, either international or national. The scholarship duration is as follows:

  • Up to 12 months for enrollment in Master’s 2 programs
  • Up to 24 months for enrollment in Master’s 1 programs

Eligibility Criteria

  • Citizenship from one of the 26 European Union member states: Germany, Austria, Croatia, Denmark, Spain, Estonia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta.
  • Individuals holding French nationality, including those with dual citizenship, are ineligible for the program.
  • Age between 18 and 26 years at the commencement of the stay in France.
  • Enrollment in a French higher education institution for either Master’s 1 or Master’s 2 during the academic year 2024-25.
  • Not possessing a French higher education degree or currently enrolled in a higher education program in France.
  • Not a recipient of an Erasmus +, AUF, or any other scholarship from the French ministry.

Selection Process

  • The “France Excellence Europa” scholarship selection is merit-based, focusing on academic excellence and alignment with the strategic goals of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
  • The initial evaluation of applications is carried out by the college relations teams at French embassies. Subsequently, the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs evaluates applications with the support of specialists in relevant fields.

Timeline:

  • French embassies will pre-select candidates from March 30 to April 12, 2024.
  • Candidate selection committees: April 15 – April 26, 2024
  • Announcement of results (conditional upon admission) for the main and supplementary lists: starting from April 29, 2024
  • Finalization of the definitive list: July 2024

Application Documents

  • Completed and signed “France Excellence Europa Scholarship” application form
  • A curriculum vitae (CV) written in either English or French
  • An English or French cover letter
  • A copy of your most recent diploma from a higher education institution, or your secondary school diploma if you are still in school. The higher education certificate needs to be translated into either French or English and sent out as soon as possible.
  • Your final two years of transcripts from your higher education, translated into either English or French.
  • A copy of an identity document (ID card, passport, etc.); • An acceptance letter for a Master’s 1 or Master’s 2 program at a French university for the 2024–2025 academic year. The letter of admission must be submitted promptly upon receipt.

Optional:

  • Copies of diplomas or certifications (DELF, DALF, TCF, TEF) attesting to one’s fluency in French
  • Copies of diplomas or certificates indicating proficiency in English (TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS)
  • Letters of recommendation in either French or English.

If the applicant does not yet have a letter of admission for the 2024-25 academic year at the time of application, they are required to attach a sworn statement indicating the name of the institution and the title of the anticipated program for 2024-25, along with copies of communications with the institution verifying that the application for admission is in progress. A sworn statement for each choice of course must be included in the application file.

Create an account on messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr and log in to cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr to obtain the exemption certificate.
