European Union Traineeship Details:

There are two types of traineeships offered by the European Parliament: Traineeships in the Secretariat (known as Schuman traineeships) and Traineeships with Members of the European Parliament.

Schuman Traineeships:

Schuman traineeships are paid positions available at the European Parliament’s official locations in Brussels, Luxembourg, and Strasbourg, as well as its Liaison Offices in Member States.

Traineeships with Members of the European Parliament:

Members of the European Parliament may offer paid traineeships at their offices within the European Parliament premises in Brussels or Strasbourg, subject to an agreement with the European Parliament.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for the European Union Traineeship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be nationals of a European Union Member State or an accession/candidate country (applicants from other countries may also be considered).
  • Possess a university-level diploma.
  • Demonstrate a proficient knowledge of one official EU language and a very good command of a second language (applicants from non-member States must have a very good command of English, French, or German).
  • Provide a clean criminal record.
  • Not have completed a traineeship or worked for more than two consecutive months in an EU institution, body, or agency.
  • Have not participated in a study visit at the Secretariat of the European Parliament within six months prior to the commencement of the traineeship.

Benefits

  • Trainees will be granted a monthly stipend, the value of which will vary depending on the location due to varying living expenses across Europe.
  • On average, trainees can anticipate receiving approximately €1,524.59 per month.
  • This financial assistance is intended to assist in covering living expenses during the traineeship.

Duration

The European Union traineeships are granted for a period of five months:

  • Traineeship period 1 October–28/29 February
  • Applications can be submitted from 1 to 31 May
  • Traineeship period 1 March–31 July
  • Applications can be submitted from 1 to 31 October

Spontaneous applications will not be considered.
