The German Embassy offers support through the Micro-Project-Scheme to NGOs/NPOs and other civil society actors dedicated to aiding marginalized or impoverished communities, or those in transition. Priority is given to projects in the following sectors in South Africa:
- Women’s Rights
- Anti-Discrimination
- Just Energy Transition
- Local Economic Development/Alternative Livelihoods
If your project aligns with the outlined criteria in the Guidelines, funding of up to 25,000 Euros may be provided. To apply, please submit the application form to the German Embassy, including the following details:
- Description of your organization (members, financial background, etc.)
- References to previous projects initiated by your organization (experience)
- Explanation of the project seeking financial support (target group, etc.)
- Detailed financial estimate of the project (self-contribution, donor’s contribution, membership dues, land)
- Time and location of the project.
Application Process
To apply for funding, please submit the following documents/information to microprojects@pret.diplo.de:
- Official application form, dated and signed by two responsible project personnel, indicating the project title and requested funds.
- Valid passports or official identification of the two individuals signing the form.
Detailed Project Information Required:
- Exact location/address where the project will occur (if different from the NPO’s address provided earlier).
- Comprehensive statement on the current situation/problems the project aims to address.
- Description of efforts made thus far to implement the project.
- Explanation of the development policy objective.
- Measures to be taken to improve the described problem/situation.
- Details of own contributions, whether monetary or in manpower.
- Estimated project timeframe (to be completed within the same year).
- Declaration of potential follow-up or running costs to be covered by the beneficiary upon successful project completion.
