The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), a Federal Government agency tasked with developing indigenous human capacity for the oil and gas industry, invites applications from qualified Nigerians for the 2024 Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctorate scholarships in Nigerian Federal Universities.
PTDF Ph.D Benefits
- Reward: N700,000 per year plus a laptop
Requirements
- Full-time admission letter from a Federal University in Nigeria.
- A minimum of a Second-Class Lower (2.2) degree in a field related to Oil and Gas or Management.
- Minimum of merit in a second-degree certificate in an Oil and Gas related discipline.
- At least 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO results (not more than 2 sittings, and the results must precede the first degree).
- Certificate from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or a Letter of Exemption.
- Certificate of indigeneity (proof of state of origin and local government).
- Research area must be relevant to the Oil and Gas industry.
- PhD research proposal of not more than 6 pages (template available on the PTDF Scholarship Management Portal).
Selection Process
Criteria for In-Country Scholarship Scheme (ISS) Postgraduate:
- Class of degree, full academic transcripts, additional professional qualifications, and relevant publications.
- Membership in professional bodies.
- Viability of the study/research plan (PhD applicants only).
- MSc applicants must submit a statement of purpose outlining reasons for the study, relevance to the oil and gas industry, and expected national impact.
- PhD applicants must submit a detailed research proposal including topic, introduction, literature review, research questions, methodology, data collection methods, expected outcomes, novelty, industry relevance, and references.
- Postgraduate applicants in their final year of studies are not eligible.
- Shortlisted postgraduate applicants will be invited for oral interviews before final selection.

- Reward: N500,000 per year plus a laptop (N625,000 for the first year).
Requirements
- Must be full-time students at a Federal University in Nigeria.
- Must be currently in the 200 level of study.
- Course of course of study should be relevant to the oil and gas industry.
- Must have 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO, including English Language and Mathematics.
- Must have a valid admission letter from the university.
- Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 on a scale of 5 or 3.0 on a scale of 4, equivalent to a 2.2 in the first year.
- Must provide first-year transcripts signed and stamped by the Head of Department (HOD) or Exams Officer.
- Must have completed first-year two-semester exams and be in the second year of studies.
- Only students in Oil and Gas-related fields will be considered, with selection based on transcript grades (transcripts must be signed and stamped by HOD/Exams Officer or authorized personnel).

- Admission letter from the university.

- The course of study must be related to Management and the Oil & Gas industry.
- Must have at least 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO results (not more than 2 sittings, and both results must precede the first degree).
- National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate or Letter of exemption.
- Certificate of indigeneship (proof of state of origin and Local Government).
- Personal statement of at least 1000 words explaining the reasons for undertaking the course of study.
Selection Process

- The classification of the degree, comprehensive academic transcripts, any supplementary professional qualifications, and pertinent publications should be cited.
- Membership in professional bodies.
- Viability of the study/research plan (for PhD applicants only).
- Postgraduate (MSc) applicants must submit a statement of purpose detailing the reasons for undertaking the study, its relevance to the oil and gas industry, and its expected impact on national development.
- PhD applicants must submit a research proposal of no more than 6 pages, including the topic, introduction, literature review, research questions, methodology, data collection methods, expected outcomes, novelty, relevance to the industry, and appropriate references.
- Postgraduate applicants currently in their final year of studies need not apply.
- Postgraduate applicants who meet the requirements will be shortlisted and invited for oral interviews before the final selection of successful candidates.
