The Raheem Sterling Foundation envisions a world where young individuals consistently receive the essential support to improve their opportunities, future careers, and quality of life. Through his charitable organization, Raheem Sterling is committed to assisting individuals from underprivileged backgrounds in overcoming barriers to success, finding their voice, and unlocking their full potential.
The scholarships are granted for a duration of three years and are contingent upon satisfactory academic performance. If students opt for a year abroad or an industrial placement, they will need to finance these themselves, which may involve applying for Student Finance. Similarly, any additional years beyond the three-year scholarship period will also need to be self-funded, including repeat years due to unsatisfactory academic progress.
Recipients of the scholarship are required to provide annual progress reports to the Raheem Sterling Foundation.
Benefits
The Raheem Sterling Scholarship covers course tuition fees and provides a stipend.
Recipients receive an annual fee waiver of £9,250 per student and a stipend of £7,000 per student. The award is granted for a maximum of three years, with no funding provided for repeat years, study abroad, or interruptions.
Requirements
To qualify for the Raheem Sterling Scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Identify with one of the specified ethnic groups:
– Individuals of Black or Black British descent from the Caribbean
– Individuals of Black or Black British descent from Africa
– Individuals of mixed White and Black Caribbean descent
– Mixed – white and Black African
– Other Black background
- Have accepted an offer to pursue a full-time undergraduate degree program at King’s College London commencing in September 2024.
- Be classified as a ‘home’ student for fee status assessment.
- Reside in the Greater London area, as indicated by their UCAS application.
Preferred candidates will:
1. Reside in the London Borough of Brent.
2. Have a household income of £25,000 or less per year.
3. Be part of a Priority Group – Care-Experienced, Estranged, Forced Migrants.
4. Qualify for contextual admissions at King’s College London.
Method of Application
Please ensure all questions are answered and upload your Student Finance England notification, as approval for funding from Student Finance is required to submit your application.
Priority will be given to applicants who:
1. Have a home postcode in the London Borough of Brent (matching the UCAS application).
2. Have a household income below £25,000 per year.
3. Are Care-experienced, Estranged, or Forced Migrants.
4. Are eligible for contextual admissions at King’s (see: bit.ly/3Kfk2V9).
