The UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO) Italy initiated the Global Call in 2020, establishing it as UNIDO’s flagship annual event to acknowledge and reward companies offering innovative solutions to global challenges. Originating in Rome, Italy, the event has since expanded globally, with subsequent editions held in Bonn, Shanghai, and Beijing. Over the years, the Global Call has attracted more than 2000 applications from 108 countries, fostering a vibrant global network of innovators dedicated to driving positive change through technology and collaboration.
In 2024, UNIDO ITPO Korea will be organizing the Global Call 2024, centered around the theme ‘FOODTECH Innovation and ISID: Nourishing the Future’. Given the importance of addressing challenges within the global food system and UNIDO’s specific emphasis on the foodtech sector, the Call aims to seek out companies with innovative technologies that tackle key issues like hunger and inequitable distribution within the global food system. UNIDO ITPO Korea, in partnership with the UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion (ITP) Network and other relevant divisions within UNIDO, envisions Global Call 2024 as an unprecedented opportunity to significantly tackle societal issues throughout the entirety of the food industry value chain.

Requirements:
- Companies worldwide with innovative food tech-related technologies are eligible to apply (including large corporations, small and medium-sized companies, startups, etc.).
- This also includes research centers, university spin-off companies, academic institutions, and centers.
