The Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, a collaboration between the African Union and the European Union under the Pan-African Partnership, is managed by the European Commission through the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency, in conjunction with the African Union Commission Department for Human Resources, Science, and Technology.
The program facilitates collaboration among higher education institutions (HEIs) from different regions to organize student exchanges, promoting harmonization and standardization of higher education in alignment with the African Union Strategy for Harmonization of Higher Education. It contributes to the implementation of the Pan African Quality and Accreditation Framework, fostering regional integration.
Objectives:
- Enhance human capital development and intra-African collaboration, as outlined in Agenda 2063.
- Increase student employability.
- Boost the quality and relevance of higher education in Africa.
- Modernize and expand the reach of African institutions of higher learning.
- Foster the development of an African higher education and research space.
Benefits include coverage for round-trip flight tickets, participation costs, insurance, settling-in allowances, monthly subsistence allowances, and research costs. Female master’s and doctoral scholarship holders receive an additional allowance per academic term.

Applicants from African countries are invited to apply for scholarships under the ESIMSAD project, administered jointly by four partner universities. Selected students and staff will engage in postgraduate studies, research, and teaching at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia.
