2024 Zeribe Nwosu Foundation Annual Essay Contest: Opportunity for Nigerian Students

The Zeribe Nwosu Foundation (ZNF) is pleased to announce the launch of the ZNF Annual Essay Competition for the year 2024. In this competition, participants are invited to share their personal experiences or perspectives, either individually or through consultation with others, to address the challenges and issues related to undergraduate education in Nigeria. It is essential for participants to also propose potential solutions to these challenges. All submissions must be original work created by the participants. However, participants are encouraged to utilize this opportunity to learn and seek feedback from peers or mentors.

Prizes for Winning Essays:

1st Prize – N50,000 (Fifty thousand Naira)

2nd Prize – N40,000 (Forty thousand Naira)

3rd Prize – N30,000 (Thirty thousand Naira)

+ 2 Honorable Mentions (each at N10,000)

*Note: Collusion or plagiarism will result in automatic disqualification.

Requirements:

1. Participants must be currently enrolled as undergraduates in any Nigerian university (private or public).

2. Individuals who will have completed their NYSC by July 15, 2024, are not eligible to apply.

3. Only one submission is allowed per participant.

4. Essays must adhere to the specified essay format provided below to be considered eligible.

5. Unless otherwise authorized by the ZNF, only submissions made through the provided form will be considered. Sending essays directly via email to the foundation is prohibited.

EVALUATION/REVIEW

Each essay will undergo review by a minimum of two reviewers, who will assign scores (in percentage) based on the following criteria:

Adherence to essay specifications = 10%

Organization/structure/logical flow = 10%

Clear identification of opportunities (with explanations) = 20%

Clear identification of threats (with explanations) = 25%

Use of relevant examples to support arguments = 10%

Grammatical and spelling accuracy = 15%

Effective and persuasive conclusions = 10%

Evidence of plagiarism = Disqualification
