Specifically, the Fund addresses the imperative to foster meaningful citizen engagement in governance spaces through innovative data and digital technology applications to tackle governance and development challenges. - Successful grant recipients can receive financial support of up to €15,000 to scale and accelerate their projects and initiatives.
- The AUCTF can accommodate up to 15 organizations and initiatives. After receiving the funding, the second cohort will receive capacity building and technical support. This includes training sessions to enhance digital literacy, promote inclusivity and diversity across initiatives, employ stakeholder engagement approaches, and develop advocacy strategies to influence policy at the local level.
Requirements
To qualify for the African Union Civic Tech Fund, applicants must fulfil the following criteria:
- Be a not-for-profit or for-profit organization operating within the civic space and civic tech ecosystem.
- The organization must be a legal entity registered in an African Union Member State.
- Have the ability to enter into a service contract agreement.
- Not be insolvent or bankrupt.
- Have no record of judgment for fraud, corruption, involvement in criminal activities, or any other illegal conduct.
- Have not received an adverse audit opinion from its auditors or donors.
- Demonstrate how the intervention supported by the Fund will be sustained.
- Provide evidence of the impact of their work and explain how additional resources will enhance their impact.
