The Global Development Awards Competition (GDAC) is the largest and most enduring program of the GDN, bringing together a diverse community of researchers and development practitioners. It serves as an award scheme that:
- Identifies talent and promotes the career advancement of researchers in the Global South.
- Provides funding for innovative social development projects carried out by NGOs that benefit marginalized groups in developing regions.

- The Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development (ORD) 2024 Edition:
This competitive research grant program seeks to identify and support exceptional research proposals with significant potential for excellence in research and clear policy implications for addressing development issues in low and middle-income countries (as defined by the World Bank).
This competitive grant program aims to assist non-profit Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in low or lower-middle-income countries (according to the World Bank’s definition) in recognizing the innovative approach of their projects.
