The aim of this scholarship is for the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) to offer financial assistance and backing to newly enrolled graduate students who were ranked highly by their Department during the admissions process.
Benefits:
- Stipend Amount: $17,500 for Master’s students; $21,000 for Doctoral students. Beneficiaries need to possess a Canadian bank account and a Canadian address to access the grant.
- Domestic students will receive an extra $7,100, and international students will get an additional $10,000 to cover fees. These amounts will be directly credited to the students’ tuition and fee accounts.
Requirements:
- Eligible admission terms include January 2024, May 2024, July 2024, and September 2024.
- Must be a newly admitted student in a master’s or doctoral program for one of the above terms.
- Open to both domestic and international students.
- Available for both course-based or thesis-based students.
- A minimum Admission GPA of 3.7 is required.
- Must be registered as a full-time student during the award period.
- The award period is from September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2025, regardless of the student’s admission term.

Application Documentation
Required supporting documents may include:
- Academic Documents: Transcripts, degree certificates, and mark sheets
- English Language Proficiency scores, including IELTS, Pearson, TOEFL, etc., are required. (if applicable)
- Additional Requirements: CV, statement of intent, writing samples, GRE, GMAT, or other test scores
- References: Referees’ names, titles, and email addresses. An email with a secure link will only be sent to referees after the applicant submits and pays for their application. Reference letters must be in PDF format and on the referee’s institution’s or company’s official letterhead to be accepted.
Application Process
Prospective students and those newly admitted to a graduate program are ineligible to apply for this scholarship. Only students admitted during the specified admission terms listed under eligibility will be considered, and they must be nominated to GPS by their admitting Department. Prospective/newly admitted students should contact their admitting Department for information on the internal selection process and assistance with the admission application process.
