Applications are currently being accepted for the 2024/2025 Generation Google EMEA Scholarships, specifically designed for women in computer science and gaming.
The Generation Google Scholarship: for women in computer science aims to support students pursuing computer science degrees, empowering them to excel in technology and emerge as leaders in the field. Successful candidates will receive a 7,000 EUR award (or equivalent in their local currency) for the academic year 2024-2025. Recipients will be selected based on their dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as their demonstrated leadership qualities and academic achievements. The program is offered to students who meet all the necessary criteria.
Eligibility Requirements:
To qualify for consideration, applicants must:
- Currently enrolled full-time in a Bachelor’s program at an authorized institution or college for the 2023-2024 academic year.
- Intend to register or have already secured admission as full-time students in a Bachelor’s program at a recognized university in Europe, the Middle East, or Africa for the academic year 2024-2025.
- Be engaged in studies related to computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Have a strong academic track record.
- Demonstrate leadership abilities and a commitment to enhancing the representation of underrepresented groups in computer science and technology.

- Providing academic transcripts from their current institution.
- Responding to short-answer essay questions.
Essay Prompts:
Here are two short-answer essay questions to gauge your commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as your problem-solving skills. The maximum word count for each answer to the questions is 500.
- Describe a situation when you encountered a complex problem for which there was no clear solution. Outline the steps you took to navigate through the problem, including the resources and potential solutions you considered. Consider the lessons acquired from this experience. This problem could arise from various contexts such as academic challenges, work-related issues, extracurricular activities, or personal circumstances.
- Drawing from your own experiences, identify a barrier that obstructs equitable access to the technology field. Analyze the root cause of this barrier and discuss the actions you have taken or plan to take to address this inequality. Emphasize the actions you have already implemented. Remember that the impact of your efforts can manifest in different forms and at varying levels of influence.
