The ACPGBI has initiated a fellowship program with the aim of fostering cooperation between surgeons from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and members of the ACPGBI. This fellowship provides an opportunity for a general surgeon from an LMIC to visit two hospitals in the United Kingdom and participate in the Annual Meeting of the ACPGBI. The management of the fellowship will be overseen by the ACPGBI and promoted through the ACPGBI website, as well as through surgical societies in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and other international surgery networks.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The fellowship is open to all practicing general surgeons in low or middle-income countries, as classified by the World Bank.
- After the visit, the Fellow will be required to submit a brief written report detailing their experience.
Fellowship Conditions:
- Successful candidates will spend two weeks in the UK, visiting one or two hospitals and attending the ACPGBI’s Annual Meeting.
- Candidates will be encouraged to submit an abstract for presentation at the annual meeting and will undergo an interview as part of the selection process.
