The Destination Australia scholarship, funded by the Australian Government Department of Education in line with the National Strategy for International Education 2025, aims to:
- Encourage and support studies in regional Australia
- Enhance and cultivate regional Australian tertiary education institutions
- Offer students an exceptional learning opportunity.
Recipients of the Destination Australia Scholarship receive AUD $15,000 per year, totaling $60,000 over a span of four years.
Eligibility criteria include:
- Being an international student
- Holding a student visa throughout the scholarship period
- Starting as a new student
- Being a UQ alumni commencing a different program (e.g., pursuing a Master’s degree after completing a Bachelor’s)
- Having a confirmed offer to enroll in an eligible program exclusively at the UQ Gatton campus in 2024 (acceptance of the offer is not required by the scholarship application deadline).
For your part:
- You must pursue full-time studies through internal mode at UQ’s Gatton campus for the scholarship’s entirety.
- You must reside in a regional area of Australia as per the Australian Statistical Geography Standard Remoteness Structure 2016 (Australian Bureau of Statistics) for the scholarship’s duration.
Dual degree programs that include the Bachelor of Agribusiness are not eligible because they are not offered full-time at UQ Gatton. Applicants from low-socioeconomic status backgrounds, first-generation tertiary students, and those with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
