Age Requirement:
Applicants must be a minimum of 20 years old at the time of submitting their application.
Education:
Candidates should be enrolled in a course of study at a university or a comparable institution leading to a formal qualification (undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate) in a field related to public health, medicine, or social sciences pertinent to WHO’s technical work. Alternatively, applicants may be enrolled in a program related to management, administration, communications, or external relations. Those who have already obtained a qualification may also be considered if they apply within six months of completing their formal studies. Furthermore, applicants must have completed three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution before commencing the internship at the bachelor’s level or equivalent.
Language Proficiency: You must be fluent in at least one of the official working languages of the assigned office.
Family Relationships: You should not have any familial ties to a WHO staff member (e.g., parent, sibling, child).
Nationality: You must possess a valid passport from a WHO member state.
Additional Requirement:
Applicants should not have prior experience participating in the WHO Internship Programme.
Benefits:
- Since January 2020, interns may qualify for financial assistance from the WHO. The maximum amount available is specified in each internship position vacancy and varies depending on the location of the duty station.
- Depending on the location of the duty station and its amenities, interns may receive meal vouchers for use on business days (Monday–Friday) or a cash allowance for lunch expenses. Interns based in Geneva receive daily lunch vouchers valued at CHF 15, valid at WHO cafeterias.
- Travel expenses for select interns from least developed and middle-income countries may be covered.
