Applications are currently being accepted for the 2024 Senckenberg Global Fellowships.

Senckenberg is providing fellowships to exceptionally driven and skilled early-career scientists, encompassing doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers, originating from the Global South. The fellowships, spanning a period of three to a maximum of six months each, aim to support outstanding research, enhance and strengthen the global cooperation network, and facilitate the exchange of knowledge on a global scale.

  • Applicants from countries of the Global South are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates are required to possess a Master’s or PhD degree in one of Senckenberg’s research fields..
  • Candidates are required to establish contact with a suitable scientist at Senckenberg who will serve as their host. Together, they will develop a research concept for a suitable topic to be pursued during the funded period at Senckenberg.
  • It’s important to note that applicants are only eligible for a Senckenberg Global Fellowship if they do not receive parallel project funding during the fellowship period to avoid double funding.

Selection Procedure:

  • A scientific selection committee comprising renowned scientists from the Senckenberg Gesellschaft für Naturforschung will review and select successful applications within approximately eight weeks after the application deadline.
  • Senckenberg emphasizes equal opportunities for all genders and strives to promote career opportunities for women and underrepresented groups.
