Are you actively engaged in climate initiatives within your community and beyond? If you’re aged between 15 and 25 and aspire to play a pivotal role in shaping not only your own future but also the future of a world grappling with its most significant crisis, UNICEF is eager to hear from you.
UNICEF is seeking out dedicated young leaders to constitute the core team of our Leading Minds Fellows on Climate, an intensive, six-month program designed to nurture and leverage the talents of young climate activists.
This part-time paid fellowship presents an opportunity for you to steer the agenda of UNICEF’s Leading Minds conference in 2024, which is dedicated to climate breakthroughs.
The Leading Minds conference series is oriented towards the future and acts as a leading platform for global thought leadership, collaboratively developed and led by young people. Its objective is to bring together forward-thinking intellectuals and leaders, including emerging advocates, to delve into pressing, world-altering issues concerning children and young people, and establish a forum where knowledge and influence intersect. This is where leaders of thought will transform into agents of change.
Program Overview:
- As a Leading Minds Fellow, you will tackle intricate global challenges, propose inventive solutions, and advocate for children’s rights. You will interact with a diverse array of mentors and experts, gain professional exposure in a multicultural environment, and cultivate a global network of peers and professionals. This year, we’re embracing creative submissions as part of the application process, allowing you to showcase your vision of a more sustainable future. Submissions can take various forms, such as short stories, videos, poems, songs, visual art, or any other creative medium of your choice.
- The fellowship will span six months, commencing in February 2024, via online platforms. Fellows are expected to dedicate an average of 5–10 hours per week to the fellowship. Moreover, selected fellows may be required to travel to Florence, Italy, in May or June 2024 (TBC).
- Fellows must possess proficiency in the English language to collaborate effectively with UNICEF and fellow participants at the global level.
- Chosen fellows will be provided a stipend for their contributions throughout the fellowship duration.
