Entries are now being accepted for the 2024 NLNG Nigeria Prize for Science. This prestigious prize celebrates outstanding scientific breakthroughs and pays tribute to scientists worldwide who contribute to finding solutions to local or ‘Nigerian’ problems, as defined and advertised by the Advisory Board for the prize.
The Nigeria Prize for Science is an annual award aimed at fostering the advancement and application of science and technology. It is anticipated that the pursuit of this esteemed prize will foster advancements in science and technology in Nigeria, address issues vital to the country’s development, and enhance living standards.
Requirements:
- Scientists and innovators from any part of the globe are eligible to apply. To submit an entry, participants must provide a research paper or project proposal detailing an innovative solution to climate change.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for the Nigeria LNG (NLNG) Prize for Science Award:
- The award is open to scientists and innovators worldwide, including Nigerians and non-Nigerians, engaged in applying science to develop innovations and technologies for mitigating the impacts of climate change.
- During their term of service and the following year, members of the Advisory Board or Panel of Judges, along with their relatives, are prohibited from submitting their works for consideration for the Science Prize.
- Employees of Nigeria LNG Limited or their immediate family members are not permitted to participate in the prize competition while they are employed and for five (5) years after their employment ends.
- The submitted work should demonstrate outstanding merit, have advanced the frontiers of knowledge, and/or provide innovative technology for mitigating the impacts of climate change.
- The entry should constitute a completed scientific work, supported by either proof of concept or tangible societal impact.
- Only one entry per individual or group is allowed.
- All supporting materials for the entry must be submitted within the specified timeframe.
Benefits:
- The winner(s) will receive a prize of $100,000.
Application Procedure:
- Collaborative works involving two or more individuals are also encouraged, as the goal is to recognize the most relevant and effective solution to a specified problem that benefits Nigeria.
- Only one entry per contestant or group is permitted per competition year.
- Entries not submitted by the specified deadline and following the stated conditions will not be considered.
- The prize will be awarded solely based on excellence.
