Are you seeking international academic experience? The Swedish Institute offers academic scholarships for master’s studies to professionals from 41 countries worldwide.
The SI Scholarship for Global Professionals supports full-time, one- or two-year master’s programs in Sweden. This scholarship encompasses a broad spectrum of study fields, including over 700 of the 1000 master’s programs taught in English in Sweden. Through this initiative, the Swedish Institute (SI) aims to cultivate a network of future global leaders who will contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and drive progress in their home countries.
Eligibility Requirements
- This scholarship opportunity opens once annually for master’s programs commencing in the autumn semester. To be eligible, applicants must:
- Hold citizenship from one of the 41 countries eligible for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals.
- Submit an application for a master’s program eligible for the SI scholarship.
- Be responsible for paying tuition fees at University Admissions.
- Demonstrate relevant work experience.
- Provide evidence of leadership experience gained from current or past employment, or from involvement in civil society.
Criteria
- Citizenship
Applicants must hold citizenship from a country eligible for the SI scholarship. Residence in the country at the time of application is not required.
- Master’s Programs
The master’s programs selected for application must be eligible for the SI scholarship. More than 750 English-taught master’s programs qualify. The list of eligible programs can be found below.
- University Admission
Applicants must be obligated to pay tuition fees at Swedish universities, have followed the application procedures outlined by University Admissions, and receive admission to one of the eligible master’s programs by March 30, 2023.
- Previous Experience
Applicants must possess demonstrated work experience (certain conditions may apply to specific regions). Additionally, applicants must show evidence of leadership experience gained from current or past employment, or from participation in civil society initiatives.

Scholarship Benefits
The Scholarship for Global Professionals is a highly competitive, fully-funded scholarship offering the following benefits:
- Full coverage of tuition fees. The fees are paid directly by SI to the Swedish university at the beginning of each semester.
- A monthly stipend of SEK 12,000 to support living expenses throughout the duration of the study period.
- Insurance coverage for illness and accidents.
- A travel allowance of SEK 15,000 (*SEK 10,000 for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine). This grant is a single payment and does not extend to students already living in Sweden.
- Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP), provides a platform for professional growth and networking opportunities while in Sweden.
- Upon completion of the scholarship period, recipients become members of the SI Alumni Network, offering continued networking opportunities and professional development.

- 12th to 28th February: The application portal for the SI Scholarship is accessible.
- 21st March: University admissions announcement day.
- 25th April: Announcement day for SI Scholarship recipients.
