The Early Career Fellowship provides exclusive access to esteemed experts, including Professor Dr. Laura DeNardis from American University and distinguished scholars from the Oxford Internet Institute. It also imparts essential skills in project management, advocacy, and diplomacy, establishing the groundwork for fellows to emerge as future advocates for the Internet.

Annually, a cohort of 15 fellows is chosen to partake in the 5-month program. Through seminars, events, courses, discussion sessions, and project work, fellows can enhance their knowledge and skills. The program also offers networking, mentoring, and collaboration opportunities, concluding with each fellow presenting a final project at a closing symposium.

Requirements:

Candidates should be early-career professionals engaged in the Internet ecosystem in a technical, policy, economic, or social capacity, having initiated or expressed interest in projects aimed at expanding or fortifying the Internet.

Applicants meeting the following criteria are encouraged to submit their applications:

  • Possession of an undergraduate or vocational degree or a minimum of three years of work experience in an Internet-related field
  • Less than ten years of experience working in an Internet-related field
  • Submission of an innovative and impactful project proposal aimed at the growth and/or strengthening of the Internet
  • Access to a reliable broadband Internet connection and relevant devices
  • Availability for full participation in the 5-month program
  • Proficiency in verbal and written English

Application Requirements:

  • Commitment to allocate a minimum of six hours per week for coursework, seminars, individual project work, and other program activities
  • Completion of the entire 5-month program
  • Attendance at all mandatory seminars or sessions, with the ability to manage time zone differences

Selection Process Timeline:

  • January 17, 2024: Opening of application submissions
  • February 7, 2024: Closing of application submissions
  • End of March 2024: Selection of fellows
  • Beginning of April 2024: Cohort kick-off
