JASSO offers the Follow-up Research Fellowship to former international students who have previously pursued studies in Japan from a developing region or country. These fellowships support short-term research lasting 60-90 consecutive days.

The primary goal of these fellowships is to provide researchers with the opportunity to engage in brief research projects alongside academic advisors at Japanese universities, excluding junior colleges.

Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) is an autonomous administrative institution operating under the purview of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology.

Benefits

  • Round-trip airfare
  • Daily allowance of ¥11,000 per day for the recipient
  • Remuneration for cooperation, amounting to a maximum of ¥50,000, for the research advisor

Requirements

  • Age below 45
  • At least one year must have passed since returning from Japan.

Method of Application

Applications must be submitted by November 30, 2023, with this deadline specifically for JASSO. Please note that your host university may have a different deadline, so it’s important to verify the deadline for your specific host university.

The application should include five printed copies of the application forms (with one original Form 1) and digital file data. When preparing your application, ensure to review the guidelines provided under “For University Use: Cautions When Submitting Files.”
