EMMIE 2024: Erasmus Mundus Master in Impact Entrepreneurship Program

Written by admin

The EMMIE program receives funding from the European Commission through the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) program, which aims to offer financial support to outstanding students.

The Erasmus Mundus Master in Impact Entrepreneurship (EMMIE) is a unique master’s program designed for individuals who want to contribute to the transformation of society into a more sustainable and inclusive world through entrepreneurial projects.

Participants in this program will develop a different mindset compared to traditional entrepreneurs. They will cultivate a profound insight into their purpose (the “Why?”) and master the art of integrating a well-rounded consideration of stakeholders into their business models. As impact entrepreneurship requires creative and interdisciplinary approaches, candidates from various academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The program seeks to attract the brightest candidates who are passionate about making a positive impact on the world.

Benefits

Through exposure to impact entrepreneurship, participants will learn how to balance people, the planet, and profit effectively. To launch entrepreneurial projects with a significant impact on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), students will acquire:

  • A profound understanding of the challenges that need to be addressed.
  • Appropriate methodologies to analyze the ecosystems related to these challenges.
  • A strategic approach to identify the most effective ways to optimize impact.
  • The use of specific business models that align with the 3Ps approach

Requirements

The EMMIE program is open to individuals of all academic backgrounds and nationalities. Applicants must be present on-site and in person for the entire 18-month program. Specific requirements include:

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree with a minimum of 240 ECTS credits.
  • No disciplinary restrictions; candidates from all fields of academic study are encouraged to apply.
  • The program begins on September 1, 2023, in Zagreb. Scholarship funding commences on the program’s first day. Students are advised to arrive before the start date to complete necessary administrative tasks.

Selection Criteria

All applications undergo an initial review to ensure eligibility requirements are met and documentation is complete. The EMMIE selection committee, representing all hosting institutions, evaluates applications and reaches a consensus-based final selection. The selection process primarily considers academic qualifications and also focuses on the following indicators:

  • Academic background
  • Motivation letter
  • Language proficiency
  • Entrepreneurial experience and/or ongoing projects.

Documents Required for Application

Applicants must provide the following documents:

  • An English translation of their passport and, if available, their birth certificate (both in PDF format).

  • A personal motivation letter in English (up to 2 pages) outlining their interest in the EMMIE program and ideas for a startup company to be developed during the program
  • Copies of higher education diplomas (Bachelor’s and Master’s if applicable) and transcripts of records in English, officially certified by the issuing institution Certified English translations are required for successful candidates when applying for international travel documents.
  • An English Language Proficiency test/document for those who have not completed a full university degree in English. TOEFL and IELTS tests are accepted, but Duolingo tests are not. A minimum proficiency level of B2 is required.

  • Two recommendation letters are written in English, which can be from academic or professional references (no letters from co-workers, family, or friends).

If applicants reside in a different country than their passport/nationality, they must provide an official document issued within 12 months of the submission deadline indicating their place of residence. The document should be dated and can be used to verify the place of residence based on the documents listed on the PRADO website (https://www.consilium.europa.eu/prado/fr/search-by-document-country.html).
