The Scholarship, a postgraduate research scholarship funded by the Australian Research Council – Discovery Projects, aims to support students pursuing a Ph.D. in the School of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, with a focus on new rare-earth free solid-state magnetic materials.
Scholarship recipients will focus on either synthesis, structural and physical property characterization, or data mining and computational modeling, with the flexibility to work across all aspects of the project.

Value of Award:
Subject to excellent academic achievement, the Scholarship will give a stipend allowance of $29,880 per year (indexed on January 1st of each year) for up to 3.5 years.
Requirements
To be eligible for this award, applicants must:
- Have an unconditional offer of admission or are presently enrolled in a full-time Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program at the University of Sydney’s School of Chemistry, Faculty of Science.
- Hold an honors degree (First Class or Second Class Upper), a master’s degree in a comparable discipline with a significant research component, or an equivalent qualification.
- Be willing to undertake research in solid-state magnetic materials
- Be willing to work at major neutron and X-ray scattering facilities.
Method of Application
Suppose an applicant does not have an unconditional offer of admission; they may apply and be chosen. In that case, a scholarship offer will be given once the applicant obtains an unconditional offer of admission.
