Nationwide Recruiting for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in 2023
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) was founded as a federal law enforcement agency by Decree No. 48 on December 29, 1989. The issuance of the decree was primarily a reaction to the increasing trend in the demand for and trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the 1980s, which had a negative impact on the image of Nigerians and Nigeria itself in the eyes of the world community. At that time, the illegal trade in narcotics has evolved into a well-organized criminal enterprise that threatens the stability and progress of the nation. This situation requires the government’s immediate and undivided attention and should be given the highest priority.
We are looking to fill the following jobs with full-time employees and are interested in receiving applications from people who meet the qualifications listed below:
- SURVEILLANT CADRE
(General Duties or Specialists) Applicants for the position of Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics II CONPASS (08) must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in any field from an accredited educational institution, as well as a New York State Civil Service Discharge Certificate or Exemption Certificate.
Assistant Superintendent for Controlled Substances (CONPASS 9)
Applicants, who hold degrees such as LL.B, BL, B.Eng (with COREN), B.Pharm, etc. will, upon successfully completing their training, be promoted to the position of Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics I. (CONPASS 9).
Deputy Superintendent of Narcotics (CONPASS 10)
Upon the applicant’s successful completion of training and presentation of their MBBS or DVM, the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Narcotics will be awarded to them (CONPASS 10).
2.) NARCOTIC AGENT CADRE
Chief Narcotic Agent – CONPASS 2.) NARCOTIC AGENT CADRE (07)
- The applicant has to have a Nigerian Certificate of Education or its equivalent from a recognized educational institution.
- They also need to be registered nurses or midwives, pharmacy technicians, laboratory technicians, or dental technicians.
Senior Narcotic Agent – CONPASS (06)
- A National Diploma (ND) or anything that can be considered its equal from a reputable educational institution is required of all applicants.
The applicant for the position of Narcotic Agent – CONPASS (05)
- must have a minimum of 5 credits in SSCE/GCE/NABTEB, including English and Mathematics.
3.) NARCOTIC ASSISTANT CADRE (NARCOTIC ASSISTANT CADRE)
The applicant for the position of Narcotic Assistant I – CONPASS (04)
- must have a minimum of four credits in the SSCE, GCE, or NABTEB, one of which must be in mathematics or English language.
Narcotic Assistant II – CONPASS (03)
- Applicants need to have at least three credits in SSCE, GCE, or NABTEB, one of which must be in mathematics or English language.
Artist, Mechanic, Driver, Cleaner / Gardener etc.
- The applicant is required to submit proof that they have completed secondary school or the Trade Test Grades II or III.
Regulatory Obligations Regarding the Employment
- Candidates are required to be born into a Nigerian family and have a valid National Identity Number (NIN). In addition, everyone in the cadres should have a basic understanding of computers.
- It is not possible to later offer any certificates or qualifications for career advancement within the Agency if they were not declared, tendered, and approved during the recruiting process.
- Candidates are required to submit a certificate proving that they are medically healthy, which must come from a government-run facility.
- For the first category, applicants cannot be less than 18 years of age or older than 35 years of age at the date of entrance. For the second and third categories, the age restriction is 30 years, and applicants must be no younger than 18 years of age. On the other hand, medical doctors and drivers of articulated vehicles will be allowed to practice after the age of 40.
- There is a minimum height requirement of 1.65 meters for male applicants and 1.60 meters for female applicants.
- Medical and Allied professionals must possess current practising licences while Lawyers must have been called to Bar.
- Applicants must be drug free and also be of good character and must not have been convicted of any criminal offence.

Note
- Applicants must print out their online generated slip on completion of their application.
- Only shortlisted applicants shall be invited for further examination and interview.
- Multiple applications would lead to disqualification.
- Successful candidates will be required to fill further vetting forms.
- All successful candidates will be subjected to random illicit drug use test throughout their service in the Agency.
