Applications are currently being accepted for the Women in Africa (WIA) 54 Programme 2024. In collaboration with Société Générale, a longstanding partner, WIA Philanthropy is pleased to introduce the “Responsible Entrepreneurs” competition, aimed at amplifying the impact in Africa. The “Responsible Entrepreneurs” competition seeks to recognize African women entrepreneurs who, through their enterprises, make significant contributions to social, economic, and environmental progress in their communities. This competition provides a unique chance for women to show their dedication to social responsibility and sustainable development.. Under this new phase of partnership, Société Générale and WIA Philanthropy will concentrate their efforts on Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, and Senegal. The primary goal of this initiative is to bolster and advocate for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) while fostering vibrant local initiatives in female entrepreneurship.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Found and operate a business in one of the four target countries for a minimum of one year.
- Implement a CSR program within the company, supported by positive outcomes.
- Demonstrate a dedication to extending the CSR impact on a Pan-African scale.
Evaluation Criteria:
- Submission of a comprehensive CSR report during the application period, outlining implemented initiatives and achieved results.
- Demonstration of the positive impact of the existing CSR program within the company.
- Stated commitment to expanding the CSR impact on a Pan-African scale.
Program Overview:
Training:
The program seeks to identify and support four outstanding female entrepreneurs through a competitive application process. Successful candidates will undergo intensive online training spanning six months, from June to December 2024. This training program, created in close partnership with WIA Philanthropy, will address a range of vital entrepreneurial elements, providing participants with the requisite skills for advancing their businesses.
Networking and Support:
Utilizing its extensive network, Société Générale will provide networking opportunities at the national, Pan-African, and international levels. This initiative aims to foster the establishment of a sustainable and inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Mentorship and visibility:
A personalized mentoring scheme will be established, enabling entrepreneurs to receive guidance from seasoned professionals. Furthermore, a tailored communication strategy will be devised to showcase the achievements and initiatives of participants across WIA media platforms, including the website and social media channels.
Selection Process:
- Application Submission: Entrepreneurs interested in participating are encouraged to submit their applications, outlining their project and the CSR impact it has generated.
- Evaluation: An expert jury comprising individuals with expertise in entrepreneurship, sustainable development, and representatives from Société Générale and WIA will assess the applications.
- Winner Announcement: The selected winners will be announced on the Women In Africa website and social media platforms.
