2024 NWAG Scholarship: Empowering Nigerian Students

The Nigerian Women’s Association of Georgia, Inc. (NWAG), headquartered in the USA, is dedicated to advancing education among Nigerian students. In furtherance of this objective, NWAG is excited to announce its scholarship program for 2024, designed to assist female undergraduates at Nigerian universities.

The NWAG scholarship offers a distinctive opportunity for female undergraduates enrolled in Nigerian universities to receive financial assistance for their academic pursuits.

Benefits:

  • Financial Support: Recipients will be awarded $300, while the 1st and 2nd runners-up will receive $150 and $100, respectively.
  • Recognition: Scholarship awardees will be commended for their academic accomplishments and dedication to education.
  • Opportunity: The scholarship provides a platform for female undergraduates to pursue their educational aspirations with reduced financial constraints.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be Nigerian citizens.
  • Fluency in English is a prerequisite.
  • Applicants must be female undergraduates currently enrolled in a Nigerian university (excluding final-year students).
  • Proof of the state of origin must be provided.

Application Requirements:

  • Proof of State of Origin: a letter of Origin from the university or a letter from the local government office.
  • Two recommendation letters from each of the following two sources
    • Pastor or Imam
  • Village Head
  • Local Government Chairperson
  • University Lecturer or Head of the Department.
  • One letter of recommendation from either the Dean of your Faculty or the Head of your Department within the school.
  • Photocopy of current university student identification.
  • A current photograph of the applicant.
  • A written explanation detailing the applicant’s need for the scholarship and why they deserve it, with a limit of one-half typed pages.
  • A typed, double-spaced, two-page essay on the given topic:

“The significant departure of professionals from Nigeria seeking better opportunities abroad: What are the underlying reasons? What measures can be taken to ameliorate or diminish this widespread emigration? How does this ‘Japa Syndrome’ affect education in Nigeria?”
