2024 Austrian Development Cooperation Scholarships

The Austrian Development Cooperation, in collaboration with the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, is providing approximately 30 scholarships to candidates from priority nations and other developing countries. The Tourism School in Salzburg boasts an exceptional international standing and a rich legacy. Benefits

  • € 205.- pocket money per month

Not included in this scholarship are:

  • Transportation from the airport to the hostel and back to the airport upon departure
  • Visa fee: Applicants are responsible for paying the visa fees. The entry visa costs approximately USD 110, and the 8-month residence permit, issued in Salzburg, costs approximately Euro 120.

  • Tuition fee

  • Food from Monday – Friday
  • Excursions (except the field trip to ITB Berlin)
  • Euro 205: pocket money per month

Not included in the scholarship are:

  • Accommodation: Students awarded this scholarship are required to cover accommodation costs, amounting to Euro 247 per month (Euro 1976 in total). The full accommodation fee of €1,976 must be remitted in advance before an admission letter can be issued.
  • Flight ticket: Scholarship recipients are responsible for covering their travel expenses from their countries to Salzburg and back.
  • Visa fees must be covered by the applicants. The entry visa is approximately €110, and the 8-month residence permit, which will be issued in Salzburg, costs approximately €120.

Requirements

To apply for the Government of Austria ITH Fully-funded Masters Scholarships at ITH, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Be aged 18 to 35
  • Possess a secondary school leaving certificate (high school diploma)
  • Have at least one year of experience within the tourism and hospitality industries.
  • Non-native English speakers are required to possess an English qualification such as TOEFL, Cambridge 1st Certificate, IELTS, or an equivalent. Successful candidates should demonstrate ambition, and open-mindedness, and possess strong organizational and time management skills.

Selection Process

Important Dates:

• The application form is due by March 31, 2024.

• Beginning of Courses: September 30, 2024

• Visa Application: You can start the Visa application process right after receiving the letter of acceptance in May 2024.

Application Documents

Ensure that all documents are translated into English. Copies or scans of all documents may be submitted, and the authenticity of the certificate must be available upon request.

  • Passport (valid until at least the end of September 2023)
  • Birth certificate
  • GCE-A’Level certificate or its equivalent
  • Other academic credentials, diplomas, apprenticeships, and degrees
  • Transcripts of your diploma, degree, etc.
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Proof of at least one year of experience in the hotel or tourism industry
  • A recommendation letter (ideally from your current employer)
  • Certificate demonstrating English proficiency at B2 level or a certificate from a school or university confirming that your education was conducted in English (TOEFL IBT score: minimum 65–78 points, TOEFL paper-based test score: 513 – 547, TOEFL CBT score: 183 – 210, IELTS score: minimum 5.5, or Cambridge: minimum FCE)
  • Motivational letter covering the following subjects (1-2 pages)

Method of Application

Tips for a successful scholarship application:

  • Complete the application form accurately and legibly.
  • Make sure you provide all the required information and attach all the required documents.
  • Submit translated documents in English or German if necessary..
  • Check your email regularly and include a working email address and phone number.
  • Apply on time. Applications submitted after March 31, 2024, will not be processed.
  • Provide all admission requirements (read the ITH application form and visa process carefully).
  • Address any uncertainties with the ITH office and the Austrian embassy or consulate.
  • In your motivation letter, make it clear why you are interested in the program and why you should receive a scholarship.

Only appropriate applications will be considered.


Students can attend ITH through private means or scholarships provided by the Austrian Development Cooperation. A limited number of scholarships are available each year and should be noted that receiving a scholarship is not guaranteed and involves strong competition.

  3. Application Process: All applications must be directly submitted to the Institute through email or postal service. The submission deadline is March 31, 2024 (all applications must be received by the ITH office no later than March 31, 2024).
  4. You will receive a confirmation by email that your application has been received and processed.
  5. Confirmation: You will be informed about the result of your application in May 2024
