Applications are currently being accepted for the 2024 ACU Higher Education & SDG Challenge Grants. These grants support collaborative initiatives centred around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the framework of higher education.
Collaborate with other ACU member universities or external entities, such as local governments, to create Commonwealth partnerships, which will boost the application’s credibility:
- Engagement and impact
- Estates and stewardship
- Partnerships
- Research
- Teaching and learning
The grants have facilitated a wide array of activities, projects, workshops, and events, ranging from sourcing energy-saving solutions for Fijian schools to promoting women’s economic empowerment through addressing financial literacy and gender-based disparities in access to finance.
Benefits:
- Four grants are available, each offering up to GBP 2,500.
Requirements:
Applicants must:
- Hold a staff position at an ACU member university.
- Familiarize themselves with the FAQs and application guidance.
- Complete the online application process.
Applicants must not:
- Represent a university that has previously been awarded an ACU Higher Education and the SDGs Network Grant. It is advisable to review the list of previous grantees on our website to ascertain eligibility.
Applicants are encouraged to:
- Work together to promote Commonwealth collaborations with other ACU member universities or other entities, like local governments. This will improve the application’s quality.
- Consider the possibility of securing matching or additional funding from their respective universities, though this is not mandatory. Such contributions will be viewed positively during the evaluation process.
Application proposals may encompass ideas such as:
- Virtual collaboration or exchange fosters partnerships in teaching or professional practice. This could involve sharing and jointly developing learning materials, tools, and training methods to enhance contingency and continuity planning at higher education institutions (HEIs).
- Virtual fellowships, comparative studies, and capacity-building in research management and uptake.
- Integration of sustainable development principles into operational practices.
- Sharing of learning content and materials related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Formulating research strategies centred around the SDGs.
- Collaborative research initiatives aimed at achieving impact, community engagement, and forging partnerships aligned with the SDGs.
