Currently, applications are open for the 2024–2025 Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx) Visiting Fellowship Program. This opportunity aims to promote international collaboration by providing exceptional African researchers with the chance to engage with the academic community at the University of Oxford.
The AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme is tailored to enable researchers from Africa to establish international networks, concentrate on their chosen projects, and collaborate closely with scholars based at Oxford. AfOx Visiting Fellows are connected with the University of Oxford for a period of 12 months, comprising ten months of virtual online engagement and a two-month, in-person visit to Oxford during May and June, recognized as the Trinity term..
Requirements
AfOx fellowships welcome researchers from all academic fields represented across the departments of the University of Oxford.
Benefits
- As an AfOx Fellow, you will be associated with the University of Oxford for 12 months, engaging virtually for ten months before spending two significant months in Oxford. During this timeframe, participants can engage in concentrated collaboration, networking, and integration into one of the most prominent academic settings globally during the Trinity term (May and June).
- Complete logistical support, including assistance with visa application processes, accommodation, airfare, visa fees, a maintenance allowance for incidental expenses, a temporary University card, and orientation, is provided by AfOx.
Application Process
- Applicants must have an Oxford-based researcher identified as their collaborator on their application. This requirement underscores the program’s focus on collaboration.
- Every application necessitates a support letter from a host at the University of Oxford. Furthermore, applicants affiliated with African Universities must initiate communication with potential collaborators at the University of Oxford to finalize their proposed project and timelines before submitting their application.
